General Purposes Sub-Committee: October 13th 1930
On Minutes Nos 1521 and 1559 (Proposed Branch, corner of Holyhead and Clarence
Roads) the Sub-Committee were informed that during the Vacation the Chairman and the Chairman of the General Committee with the General
Manager had in conjunction with representatives of the Electric Supply Committee considered tenders for the erection of premises for
the bank and Electric Supply Committees. The tender of Messrs Maddocks and Walford at the sum of £3,869 for the erection of Bank premises
and the tender of the same contractors at the sum of £4,180 for the erection of the buildings for the Electric Supply Department had
been accepted and the Town Clerk instructed to prepare and seal the requisite contract.
1582 RESOLVED:- That the
General Committee be recommended to confirm the action taken in the matter.

I have to report that at the request of the Architects
I have given notice to Messrs Sheffields Ltd, to terminate their tenancy of the bill posting station on the land at the corner of
Holyhead Road and Clarence Road, Handsworth on the 24th of next month.

1677 The General Manager stated that arrangements had been made for opening the new Sandwell Branch in conjunction with the Electric Supply
Department on Saturday, July 18th.
General Purposes Sub-Committee: July 20th 1931
Sandwell Branch.
Your Sub-Committee have considered the question of dealing
with the forecourt of 48 square yards on Holyhead Road and 106 square yards on Clarence Road, and have given instructions, after confirming
with the Electric Supply Department, for the forecourt to be paved by the Public Works Department. The cost for the Clarence Road
forecourt will be £58, which will be borne by the Bank and Electric Supply Department proportionately to the area belonging to the
respective Departments.
The Public Works Department have intimated that if the Holyhead Road forecourt is thrown into the pubic
footpath they would pave the same without charge, but if retained the paving cost would be £26. Your Sub-Committee are of opinion
that the offer of the Public Works Department to pave the Holyhead Road forecourt free of charge should be accepted and the land
thrown into the public footpath, a course which it is understood is acceptable to the Electric Supply Department, and your Committee
are recommended accordingly.

Flat at Sandwell Branch.
Arrangements
have been made to let this flat to Mr Raymond Tom Piper, a Member of the Bank staff, at a rental of £35 per annum from 22nd August,
plus rates and cost of internal repairs.

Your Sub-Committee report that the following tender has been accepted for decorations at Sandwell Branch:
Mr A J Handscomb for the outside painting of the branch at the sum
of £44. 10. 0d, the work to be carried out in conjunction with the painting of the adjoining shop premises of the Electric Supply
Department, who have also accepted a tender for the work to be done by Mr Handscomb.

The following arrangement has been made for the letting of the flat at Sandwell branch:
Mr L W Nixon for a period of 3 years from 25th March at a rental of £45 per annum. The tenant to be responsible for rates and internal repairs.
