The Sub-Committee expressed the opinion that so far as possible in erecting and adapting premises for Bank requirements regard should be given to the possibility of making future enlargements to the premises if desired, and in this connection it was pointed out to Mr Stevens that it might be desirable to amend the plans as submitted so far as the position of the strong rooms were concerned.
960 RESOLVED:- That, subject to the considerations above mentioned, the plans be approved, and that the City Surveyor be instructed to prepare specifications and bills of quantities and that the General Manager be authorised to advertise for tenders for the carrying out of the work.

so as to provide for the interior accommodation to meet the requirements of the Bank in regard to the counter, etc. The question had
also been discussed of taking over the site, and it was ultimately agreed that the land in question should be transferred to the Bank
at a price to be agreed between the two Committees, on the understanding that when the Public Works Committee require the land for
street improvement purposes they shall have the option of repurchasing the land on similar terms.

The latter had now intimated, however, that he would not require the tenancy of the flat and the General Manager had made enquiries in the case of another applicant (Mr Irving Wilson) and he was satisfied with the circumstances in this case.

Bank Committee: December 19th 1927
2890 The following report of the General Purposes Sub-Committee was presented:
Proposed Branch Bank at Salford Bridge.
Your Sub-Committee have given very careful attention to the proposal to erect a Branch Bank at the junction of Tyburn Road and Gravelly Hill, in accordance with plans submitted by the City Surveyor.
Having regard to the high price required for the land, and the fact that one side of Tyburn Road is restricted to works and similar buildings, and to the further fact that it is doubtful whether the population in the vicinity would be sufficient to justify a Bank, your Sub-Committee feel that the proposal should be abandoned and the Estates Department notified accordingly.
As an alternative to the Salford Bridge proposal, your Committee have considered whether or not a Bank should be provided for the very populous district centring round Aston Station, and are satisfied that there is good ground for believing that a Bank on the Lichfield Road in the near region of the Station, would be well supported and would justify itself.
This being so, your Committee have directed the General Manager to endeavour to secure a site with a view to opening a Branch Bank on the Lichfield Road.
2888 RESOLVED:- That the proposed purchase of the site at the junction of Tyburn Road and Gravelly Hill, referred to in Minute No 2855 be abandoned and the Public Works and Town Planning Committee notified accordingly and that the action of the General Purposes Sub-Committee in directing enquiries to be made for a site on the Lichfield Road near Aston Station be approved.
On Minute No 1320, the General Manager presented the following report with regard to the available use of land and buildings purchased for branch bank purposes:
