During the discussions, Mr Sapcote amplified the points raised by the Federation, and Alderman Barrow informed the deputation that
the Bank Committee would carefully consider the points raised and decide thereon without delay, and communicate with the Federation
and the respective tenderers in the event of any modifications being agreed to. After the deputation had withdrawn, and after further
discussion, it was resolved that the Town Clerk be instructed to advise the Federation, and that the General Manager be instructed
to advise the tenderers, that the Bank Committee had agreed to certain modifications:

The Bank Committee
will accept as an alternative to a Guarantee by a Joint Stock Bank the Bond of an Insurance Company approved by the Committee.

The amount mentioned as liquidated damages for non-completion of the works, to be reduced
to £75 per week, thus making the amount for damages equal to the amount of the bonus for earlier completion.

The first certificate of the Architect will be issued for £5,000 and thereafter certificates will be
issued monthly in respect of work done irrespective of amount.

Sub-Contractors.

by the Federation, the Sub-Committee did not agree to the suggestions made.
In due course, the tender for the Bank's new Head
Office in Broad Street was awarded to Messrs W J Whittall & Son.
